“She gotta lotta soul,” said Freddy King’s right-hand-man, guitarist Andrew ‘Junior Boy’ Jones.
She may consider herself a pianist first and this shows in her skills on the keys, but the honest vulnerability in Ali Penney’s vocals has won her six Chain awards for her singing and songwriting.
Ali’s songs take the listener on a journey through blues, shuffles, pop, soul, ballads, jungle beats and good ol’ rock n roll with Ali’s quirky take on life, romance and the human condition.
Ali has played all throughout Australia at many Festivals and gigs for a lot of years and brings joy to all she meets.
She has played for and supported some of the best: six gigs with LA’s premier singer Lynwood Slim; supported Chuck Berry’s right hand man, Johnny Johnson, Chris Cain, Lucinda Williams and The Tail Gators. Ali has also played with English Blues Legend, Todd Sharpville. She was invited to sit in with Walter Washington and The Palm Court Orchestra in New Orleans.
Ali has also played with Australian legends The Hippos, Fiona Boyes, Chris Wilson, Li’l Fi, Kelly Auty, Marissa Quigley and The Cyril B Bunter Band.
More than anything else, Ali is a band leader and as lead singer of The Money Makers, she knows how to put on a show!
Ali is currently recording her next album with her rockin’ band,
The Money Makers.
